STEP UP at the Agricultural Fair in Novi Sad

Agricultural Fair in Novi Sad - joint press release

By participating in this year’s 93rd International Agricultural Fair in Novi Sad, held from May 16th to May 21st, the Future Systems Hub showcased its projects through interactive presentations and activities, roundtable discussions, and technology demonstrations that are shaping the future of agrifood systems. The event attracted around 120,000 visitors, highlighting its significance as one of the key agricultural gatherings in the region and beyond.

The STEP UP project was presented to a diverse audience of farmers, researchers, students, advisors, agricultural professionals, and other stakeholders interested in the future of livestock farming. Through discussions and informational activities, visitors had the opportunity to learn about STEP UP’s work towards making European livestock production more sustainable, resilient, and future-ready. The project highlighted how the assessment and comparison of Innovative Livestock Production Systems (ILPS), supported by approaches such as Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and the Safe and Just Operating Space (SJOS) framework, can help identify pathways towards more sustainable livestock production.

Rich Programme Attracting Visitors from Around the World

During the fair, the Future Systems Hub booth showcased around 20 European projects implemented by the association, covering a wide range of engaging and highly relevant topics. Through a diverse programme of daily interactive activities, these themes were presented in an engaging way- from sustainable agriculture, digital innovations, and enhancing plant protein production in Europe, to new smart applications for citizens and biodiversity-friendly farming practices.
